They couldn't re adapt their wooden mallets fast enough.
Look inside an M6 or Mp or M7.
What does it look like?
A clockwork camrea.
Look inside a M8.
What does it look like?
A computer.

The Leica M8 was the Leica D1.
It  was the UR Leica digital. (1914)
Or maybe the Leica O digital. (1923)

Considering they had little clue what they were getting into they did a fine
job. And they kept the price of Leica glass up. And they kept a lot of
people still shooting Leica.
But with the M9 they are now doing serious business.
We do need the M9s though
12 MP's not 18.
And higher isos.
