I will be coming up next Friday for a 2 night stay in Lee Vining. Please keep me posted (off line or on) as to where you find color. My guess is that June Lake area down to Bishop has peaked, but where you are is going to begin to glow. Have a great time, Bob Bob Adler Palo Alto, CA http://www.raflexions.com ________________________________ From: Adam Bridge <abridge at gmail.com> To: Leica Users Group <lug at leica-users.org> Sent: Friday, October 2, 2009 5:36:49 PM Subject: [Leica] Report from the eastern Sierra We're in Bridgeport tonight having driven up from Davis yesterday afternoon. I have to report a distinct lack of autumn color - September has been warm. But overnight temps are now below freezing and the aspens are yellowing. The locals believe that by Tuesday the color along 395 should be coming on pretty well and by the weekend should be pretty good. The only real color we have found is on Lundy Canyon Road north of Lee Vining before the Conway Grade. The fishermen report good luck with the trout, however, and we have found the Silver Maple Inn as pleasant as ever. The Hayes Street Cafe's breakfast is still first class with sticky buns that are a meal in themselves. Tomorrow we'll get up early to climb Tioga Pass with good light streaming in from behind us (I hope.) Winds have been very strong and are forecast to be over 50 MPH at the summits tomorrow. In Bodie I tried to shoot some HDR images. We'll see how they come out. Best to all of you from the Eastern Sierra! Adam Bridge _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
