Why do you kill rattlesnakes?

Ric,

I won't even think about how anyone could be stupid enough to get that 
close to a coyote.

My neighborhood (Mt Soledad in La Jolla ) is loaded with coyotes and 
rattlesnakes. The
coyotes are smart enough to run from me.  The rattlesnakes are not, so 
they all die.
