B&H recommend these filters generally to bandwidth limit the light getting to the film too, which may give improvements with non-apo lenses. I have not tried it myself. I usually bring two cameras--one film, one digital. If I swop lenses, it's between the cameras. I have to futz with the filters, though. The M9 removes that hassle.
