I know the guy who does quality control for Dell. He has been warning 
management that there are some serious qa problems with considerable 
quantities of Chinese sourced boards, etc.. Warnings that they are only 
training their replacements also go ignored. At least once, several hundred 
thousand boards had to be junked as completely unusable. Management at the 
source plant subsequently informed Dell that the workers' responsible 'would 
be punished'. Not exactly sure what that means but it doesn't sound like 
just harsh language was used.

 

Dell's top XPS boxes are unaffected by all this as they are still made 
inTexas with topnotch components.
