From wide open to topped down, it was made to shoot wide open. I have an image going up in a mural, from a neg shot with the Elmar-M I sold to the good Rev. It's 8" high by 3.7" wide, inside the mural. At the time, I preferred it over the 'Lux I had. It's contrast would be compatible with all your current newer lenses.
