1/8000 to 1/4000.
Discrete mode is a firmware update I believe. Dicrete mode fires the shutter
on the down press, re-cocks the shutter when you release the shutter button.
Will not change the overall noise level of the shutter.

So regarding the shutter sound, does the latest firmware makes the M8
sound exactly like the M8.2?
For educational elucidation purpose only, of course. I mean, when I
get an M8, I will make sure to couple it with a lawn mower so it
sounds just like that.
