Once again pointing out I don't read the manual, therefore not one clue of what it does to assist in making a better photo moment at the time of "click!" Obviously it can't be of any big deal given I've been shooting with several types of digital cameras during the past half dozen years and in particular the M8 since it's arrival. Without a clue nor concern about this EXIF stuff? The lenses I use aren't coded, Leica Noctilux, 35 Summilux, 90 Summicron. And VC 15mm, 21, 35. not sure what coding & EXIF does either? Or am I missing something that without question by not having these items, am I not taking the best pictures possible? It seems like one of those photo things if you don't know about it, it isn't going to hurt your end product? Although many others certainly seem to have concerns as the subject comes up quite often. Please explain why I should be concerned? Thank you My M8 has "no detection" set for the lenses because I know I don't have any coded lenses. Maybe I did something right? But this EXIF thing is quite puzzling because what do you use it for in shooting better pictures? And making better prints. Or is it just another of those techie things people talk about that has absolutely no relevance to taking/making good photographs? You should understand that it took Tina months to convince me to shoot in RAW, even face to face conversations. Finally she got the message through when I began using LightRoom. I now use it and it's a piece of cake to work with therefore all digi cams are set for RAW. EXIF???????? Is it absolutely a necessity for better pictures? Will my photo content and final prints improve ? Or is just some built in filing system???? This in advance to those who may answer, please keep it KISS! For obvious reasons you are dealing with a technical klutz. Thank you. I'm a photographer first, techie klutz second. :-) I suppose if it doesn't make the end product look extremely improved, "What's all the big fuss about?" And certainly the bigger question... "why spend a ton of money having lenses coded if all it does is fiddle something in the viewfinder that you can correct by taking one step closer or one step back? See that's what I mean about KISS. And it's free! :-) Dr. ted -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+tedgrant=shaw.ca at leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+tedgrant=shaw.ca at leica-users.org] On Behalf Of J. Interestingly, it looks like the EXIF shows the 50mm lens as 67mm (correct), while C1 shows it as 50mm (actual FL rather than EFL), and LR shows, as noted, nothing. Wierd?
