Rent it for a week and shoot the heck out of it. At the same time, get some of your favorite film, shoot carefully, scan or get it scanned at maximum quality. Compare the images. You will either be persuaded or you won't be. If yes, sell both. If not, forget the M8 and bide your time. My verdict, btw: digital kills film on workflow; M8 kills film on image quality. But - it is YOUR money, it is YOUR time, and most of all it is YOUR photography. You owe it to yourself to give it a shot and see what conclusions YOU come to. OK, I decided to save up pennies to get an M8. First question: should I sell the M7 (0.72) or the MP (0.85) to partially fund this? I am inclined to keep the MP because, well, I expect it to still working 50 years from now. So a user condition M7 is worth? $1750? Next: M8 or M8.2? The M8 just sounds slightly clunky to me. The M8.2 sounds much better? An M8 can probably be have for $2700-$3000, whereas the M8.2 is $3900-$5000?
