That's what I usually do. As for the number of images, that depends on a lot of factors, obviously temperature, how much you chimp, what interval you set before the camera goes to sleep and so on. I get around 300-400 images per battery charge. Since I hardly ever shoot this many in one day, this is not a problem, although I do have a spare battery,, fully charged, available at all times.
