Hi Geoff,
I bought a G1 on whim in the duty free shop. I own an Olympus E510
bought to use my old R lenses on. Th viewfinder is admittedly optical
on the 510 but it is tiny and relatively dim. On the G1 it is sensibly
large and has a feature which magnifies the central portion of the
image when manual focussing. If using a manual stop down lens the auto
brightness feature of the EVF means it is still easy to compose and
focus, though it does get sparkly in really low light. It has been
reported that Panasonic cameras have less strong AA filters than
Panasonic. It is -much- better than camera than the Olympus in almost
every way, IME.
cheers,
Frank
PS The Noctilux is a 100mm-like f1 portrait lens...
