I kinda had a feeling a lot of you guys knew a lot about the 64 fair, Special thanks to Jim Shulmanm and Richard Taylor for your pics. I forwarded trhe links to other camera groups and it seems a lot of people managed to be there or have some connection to the place. The pics really do have a time capsule quality to them. I guess that fair was really the last hoorah of a bygone era. It would be impossible to have that sort of thing today. Nobody would show up just to hear about new gadgets and the way things might be in the future. I think people back then were not just more optimistic about the future but also more curious about technology. Anyway I was looking through some pics I shot last year of the "ruins" of the fair that are still standing. These aren't the pro grade photos you guys are used to shooting so don't expect that sort of thing. They are just weekend pics. I posted them to photobucket in case anybody's interested in seeing them. http://s633.photobucket.com/albums/uu58/summarex/1964%20World%20Fair/ Also have a look at the Shea Stadium pics taken a few months before they demolished it. http://s633.photobucket.com/albums/uu58/summarex/Shea/ BTW: I think the the heliport building is still open and they have a restaurant. If you guys want to have a lug type get-together there I'd be glad to attend.
