Mark,

It's unfortunate that you were annoyed by my question. And more
unfortunate that you seem to think I'm either making up my
photographer friends or what they said about shooting RAW.

One shoots rock and roll bands, among other things--everything and
everyone from Miley Cyrus to Ozzy Osbourne to to the Jonas
Brothers...the other's work appears regularly in the New York Times,
Time, US News, Forbes, Newsweek...the list goes on. I once asked the
news photog if she shot in RAW, and she said no, jpegs were fine for
her. In the most recent conversation, three days ago, I asked the rock
and roll photog if he shot in RAW. He said he has occasionally in the
past, but doesn't bother anymore. When I asked why, he said it takes
up a lot of space, and, "to be honest, I can't really see any
difference."

Perhaps he didn't use the word "discernible," but I think I got the
sentiment right. Had I know my veracity was going to be questioned, I
would've quoted him exactly.

I hope this clears up any confusion for you, and assuages your
annoyance.

Sincerely,

Craig
