I did not know that there were aftermarket batteries for the M8.

In general, my experience with most of them has been good when buying  
from a reputable shop (I happen to like www.batterier.dk, but they do  
not ship outside Scandinavia). I have bought such batteries for all  
the Canon and Olympus DSLRs I have owned (a total of 4 different  
kinds) and they all worked as well as the original ones. However, I  
did once get a dud battery for my Olympus from another supplier. No  
damage to the camera, but it was a piece of junk that did not hold  
its charge.
