I think here on the LUG there is a preponderance of opinion that available light and being the 'fly on the wall' is the way to go. Certainly I've felt this way though I see now that flash has its place on occasion. There are so many ways to make a photograph and its fun to watch somebody do something different. It looks like his confrontational approach actually helps prevent confrontation although he alludes to the fact that maybe its not always safe. Probably safer than being sneaky although doing either takes practice. Bruce uses it as part of his act, though photographically it helps to isolate subjects from backgrounds.
