Even simple images if we are presenting them in a public gallery can have a focus. For me, I gain as much looking and commenting as making images. Its always good to have feedback. For example, the gullzilla is really close to being a fine image. Its a theme that can be worked on photographically and in humour: witness Elliot Erwitt. Helen is always nagging me to keep my images relavent, so I thought I'd take it out on you lot here as well ;-) Keep them coming Cheers Alastair --- hoppyman@bigpond.net.au wrote: From: "Geoff Hopkinson" <hoppyman@bigpond.net.au> To: "'Leica Users Group'" <lug@leica-users.org> Subject: RE: [Leica] IMG: Hoppies go to USA Episode Four Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2009 15:13:10 +1000 Thanks for very useful feedback, Alastair. Yep highlight control is an issue with the Muir Woods shots. That's what the HDR guys keep telling me too. Lots of stuff is simply for fun or for travel glimpses. Meals and drinks are sort of a mini-tradition for me with travel galleries. Nothing photographically significant, I agree. You will encounter a LOT of margaritas and beers as you browse about. Gullzilla is meant to be a fun theme in the various galleries. I remarked to Doug in SF that the gulls there are about 3 times the size of the ones at home, hence the birth of gullzilla. You kinda needed to be following along over the last four posts! A focus subject on the empty path would also be helpful: GB could lend you a blow up sheep ;-) 2. Pizza and wine dinner: OK good memory, but not really a public domain image. The subject is cheese and tomato, so to give it appeal is not going to be easy 3. The lines give this some form and interest, but the jet stream spoils the other flowing lines in the beautiful clouds and cutting across the gull does not work for me. 4. Family snap with a fiddle: Had me fooled till I looked back in the history ;-) Cheers Alastair --- hoppyman@bigpond.net.au wrote: From: "Geoff Hopkinson" <hoppyman@bigpond.net.au> To: "'Leica Users Group'" <lug@leica-users.org> Subject: [Leica] IMG: Hoppies go to USA Episode Four Date: Fri, 2 Jan 2009 14:44:50 +1000 Folks four additions to the San Francisco and environs gallery. There are more from the Tales of Gullzilla, more food and a bw conversion from Muir Woods if anyone would care to look. The new pics (in a rearranged gallery) start with this one. <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/gh/a/usa/d/SF67.jpg.html> <http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/gh/a/usa/d/SF67.jpg.html> http://tinyurl.com/7fwjy6 Comments are always welcome.
