Of course, one has to have a calibrated monitor. Also, I don't know if I just got lucky - I believe Blurb just sends the job to whatever HP printer has excess capacity. Not necessarily the one that was profiled. I'm not sure all this makes a lot of difference with a four-color press, as opposed to an inkjet printer. Blurb seems to do a good job so long as the image does not have to be resized upward.
