But my parents, who were growing up in Japan in their early teens in the war years, used to tell me they learned in school to differentiate the sounds of bombs falling towards them versus bombs falling away, as well as the sound of the B-29 (bad news for them) versus other aircraft. It's amazing that after all that, they were only as mildly deranged as parents (as I recalled them growing up). :-) -rei On Nov01 17:05, Eric Korenman wrote: > My son and I were playing today -- we were making bomb whistle > noises.. y'know, standard father and son stuff > > I suddenly realized I couldn't tell him WHY bombs whistle with that > falling pitch sound. > I'm certified comp sci, physics nerd too.. > Google didn't help either! > > Anyone know why? > > To keep this a legit post, I almost sold my M8. > But didn't :) > > Eric > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information -- Rei Shinozuka shino@panix.com Ridgewood, New Jersey
