The imac used to have (and afaik they still have) two bays for HDs, so you always can put another HD of your choice and/or replacing the original one at the store for another with more capacity. And yes, Apple always was slightly stingy with the base equipment given on their computers, since my first mac back in the 80's I always had to buy extra stuff... but also I had to do it with every PC's I bought too.
