I bet that we get some technology trickle down later though. I don't think that the S system is meant to substitute for M or R naturally. Compare the prices against the other medium format pro systems is more relevant, maybe? I had to grin a little when I read recently, the S lenses will cost less than the new Nocti. That's not much of a limitation! I do think that it is a massive step for Leica and demonstrates Dr Kaufmann's commitment at the very least. Incidentally in the current economic situation our higher yielding Aussie currency has suffered terribly. I'm talking depreciation by a third against the USD over a couple of months. I don't even want to think about new Leica prices! Here is the text of Dr Kaufmann's speech on the eve of Photokina. You can use Goggle translate if you would like to get the sense of it. http://www.photoscala.de/Artikel/Leica-das-sind-Freunde Cheers Geoff Aber Masse kann Klasse nicht ersetzen....Aber die R10 kommt. http://www.pbase.com/hoppyman/e http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/gh/ -----Original Message----- Subject: Re: [Leica] software licensing question On Oct 18, 2008, at 4:45 PM, Geoff Hopkinson wrote: > Hmm, that's a pretty negative take on it!
