My internet has been crippled for a week and only today can I start looking at a lot of stuff. The interview with the Leica staff is well put together. Smart I think to emphasise that the entire design was in house and from scratch. It clears up the relationships for me too regarding the sensor from Kodak , processor from Fujitsu and the relationship with Phase One being for Capture One and marketing. Also the sensor size for its performance, not merely the megapixel number. Interesting to consider too the "reverse crop factor". That's a different mindset. They mention a forthcoming 24mm which will be 19mm equivalent on 24x36! As an aside my favourite part of the chat was when the interviewer noted the strong construction and tongue in cheek, asked about the self defence applications! Christian Erhardt responded with a grin, "Well you know, it's a camera for life. That's what we always believe in. Our cameras are pretty much undestroyable" Maybe there will be an accessory grenade launcher to save wear and tear on the baseplate. Delightful.
