I made images of Ayers Rock under starlight and for some reason the DMR began to add in stars to the image over about 16 to 20 seconds. I did not use those images because the stars moved too much. When the image was processing into LR, I noted all sorts of bright dots, many of which disappeared when the final image snapped into view, but a few would persist. They were easy to recognize: unlike stars, they did not move and were square. I presumed at those times, the sensors would "fail" in some spots. Nothing like this problem. I still get some images dirtied by sensor "streak" http://tinyurl.com/444phb Cheers Alastair --- imagist3@mac.com wrote: From: Lottermoser George <imagist3@mac.com> To: Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> Subject: Re: [Leica] Weird problem Date: Thu, 11 Sep 2008 17:50:46 -0500 No clue what caused this. However, thus far, I have found "long exposures" (especially in low light) remains the one thing that film handles far better than sensors. I find this true for DMR, M8, 5D and 20D None of them seem to like long exposures in low light. YMMV Fond regards, George george@imagist.com http://www.imagist.com http://www.imagist.com/blog http://www.linkedin.com/in/imagist On Sep 11, 2008, at 5:26 PM, Tarek Charara wrote: > It's raining in Perpignan, Fall is near it seems... > So I put the M8 on a tripod and started making some pictures to > capture lightning.
