As you may know, I spent a year on sabbatical living with remote tribes in Southeast Asia (Borneo, Palawan, Tawi-Tawi, etc.), where you can appreciate that their income is typically a dollar or so (equivalent) a day. My wife and I lived in Hong Kong at the time and were appalled and shell shocked when we would occasionally return to the States to see the (in our opinion) the over-the-top consumption of goods. We still haven't become used to this lifestyle and will be returning to simpler roots in Asia in the next few months. And we'll probably remain there. I'm being much too sensitive :-[ It never occurred to me that you were referring to water saturation. As my husband can tell you from many years' experience, I get very depressed when I return from these trips - a combination of so much left undone, the rampant consumerism here, and the doubt about whether what I'm doing is making any difference at all. I need lots and lots of reassurance ;-) which I usually get from my real family and my virtual family (the LUG). My real family is scattered all over the place right now, all with their own issues and problems, and I'm sure the same is true of my virtual family. I really do appreciate anybody who takes the time to comment. In the meantime, I'll keep talking to myself ;-) Tina Tina Manley www.tinamanley.com _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
