The promotion was for a male perfum Fahrenheit and Fahrenheit 32. You had to put up a virtual gallery to express the nature of the scent (whatever that meant). Fahrenheit seemed to have a "hot" theme and Fahrenheit 32 a "cold" theme. So you chose one of the two themes and uploaded images (with great difficulty I might add). The galleries were displayed on the site and people could vote for their favorite. Then in early July a panel selected the winning gallery. My images were in the "cold" theme, taken in Svalbard. These were taken on the most northerly land mass (island) we visited Paryoya. We had been hiking around the tundra, wary of meeting a polar bear. I was taking images of the landscape: there was a stream I thought might be interesting, but we moved on. On the way back to the zodiacs we came across a snow drift, melting in the summer "heat". The melting patterns and the underlying colourful rocks really interested me (and others) and I hastily took about 12 images before we were moved on. Perhaps the lack of time actually helped, but when I got back on the boat, I really liked the effect of the images and so we chose a selection for the competition. The snow was wind blown surface covered with a fine layer of dust, the underlayers were blue ice and the reds, blues and greens of the rocks set off the the patterns. I have contracted the contrast range, but done little more to bring out the colours and patterns. For the gallery, I chose a square format, though some of the images work best as verticals. Thanks for asking Alastair --- pdzwig@summaventures.com wrote: From: Peter Dzwig <pdzwig@summaventures.com> To: Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> Subject: Re: [Leica] I need witnesses Date: Sat, 12 Jul 2008 16:37:32 +0100 Alastair, can we hear a little about the background. How many photos? Shot where? was the kit Leica? I can see the photos on the wall and can move from one to another, but the images aren't very good quality. (You simply view the popup; which you can do under FFX3, even if the popup is blocked, because you have the optioon to view it anyway - click where it says options ) Long to see them on the LUG Gallery. Again, congratulations, Peter Dzwig Tina Manley wrote: > At 04:23 AM 7/11/2008, you wrote: > >> http://www.dior.com/pcd/International/JSP/Home/prehomeMiniFlash.jsp?pTPL=1073&pLANG=enall >> >> >> >> and the pop up logo from Leica suggests that I have won something.
