If "sites" means the pixel grabbers in the CCD's or whatever they're called. Megapixel MP count is for suckers. Medium format digital capture is certainly worth it if you can somehow swing it or rent it. As is large format swing and tilt. As is going full frame 24x36 instead of using a crop circle factor making it smaller than 1x. Someone who was doing medium format BEFORE and had a portfolio to do it justice would want as much acreage as possible. Maybe they'd get a back to put their existing glass to work. mark@rabinergroup.com Mark William Rabiner > From: Bob Adler <rgacpa@yahoo.com> > Reply-To: Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> > Date: Tue, 1 Jul 2008 12:23:43 -0700 (PDT) > To: Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> > Subject: Re: [Leica] OT: New Nikon D700 full frame > > Well I have a?question for all you electronic engineers/guru's related to > this. > If your primary need is to print big prints?as sharp as can be (i.e., no > softness due to data degradation) and you don't need low light capabilities > beyond 800 or 1600 (so speed isn't an issue), is it better to have 12MP > with > big sites or 20+MP with smaller sites? > I think I know the answer (and why, as a shrub photographer I'm not too > excited about the D700), but I'd?really like to hear from folks who > understand > this?stuff. > Thanks, > Bob > ?Bob Adler > Palo Alto, CA > http://www.raflexions.com > > > > ----- Original Message ---- > From: Frank Filippone <red735i@earthlink.net> > To: Leica Users Group <lug@leica-users.org> > Sent: Tuesday, July 1, 2008 11:42:38 AM > Subject: RE: [Leica] OT: New Nikon D700 full frame > > Correction......300 F2.8 with the 1.5..... > > Ain;t no free lunch in optics...... > > Frank Filippone > red735i@earthlink.net > > > > Save some $$$ and get the 200/f2 VR and have extra $$$ for converters. > > Or with the 1.5x it is a 300/f2! > > Chris > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information > > > > > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information
