I'm not sure how you managed to miss about a gazillion discussions on this and the M8 over the last couple of years! Owing to its sensor design, the M8 has been proven to be very sensitive to infrared. One result can be that synthetic fabrics (especially blacks) for example and even skin tones can be rendered very inaccurately. This is the oft discussed 'magenta' cast. The slightly contentious fix with the current camera is to use Leica supplied filters which block both UV and infrared, essentially. You can imagine I'm sure, that this displeases folks who do not wish to use (or pay for!) any filters on principle. Leica does give you two filters when you buy an M8 new. There are also camera firmware accommodations in support of the filters, which introduce new complications, especially with wide angles. The magenta effect, when it happens is dramatic and unpleasant. The UV/IR filters and current firmware work perfectly for me. I can show you some very clear with and without examples, if you like. Not set up shots, simply swapping lenses while shooting. Some types of photography are not affected at all.
