I don't like this idea (partitioning). More space is more complete  
backup.

I'd suggest getting external drive and attaching it to the Time  
Capsule's USB. You can even run several through a hub. These are  
accessed wirelessly.

When they are full, you can remove them for long term storage.

They show up in the shared section under Time Capsule.
