It now has a spiffy 6 bit code ring to prove it. results: Absolutely spot-on focus at f 1.0 on my M8 higher apertures still result in drifting back focus (but I didn't expect them to regrind the lenses..) so I am happy. Whatever they did (likely the shimming by the 6 bit code ring) helped. No more hex key monkeying with the M8's cam for me.
