Nice to be reminded of Jacques Brel.
Interesting, one of the best interpreters (in a sense of musical
interpretation and also singing Brel lyrics (which he translated) in
English too) was a New Yorker - Mort Shuman - very popular in Europe in
the seventies and early eighties along with other long lost names like
Georges Moustaki, and Herman van Veen.
Must dig through my old records both Brel and Shuman are in there
somewhere along with Moustaki, van Veen and all the other chansonniers
and Liedermacher, somewhere in our storeroom under the roof.
Douglas
BTW, Mort Shuman also wrote "Save the last dance for me" for the Drifters
