Some time ago I had a Rigid Summicron I've sold it because it has some fungus and haze, just one year ago I was wondering and remembering the smoothness of this lens and I've bought a Summicron Collapsible and a Summitar. IMO the Rigid was slighltly different and better, it gaves a certain smoothnes, and a great wide range of grey tones. Time to time I'm still thinking to buy a Rigid again to increase my 50 collection (no so big as the one of Jeffery), but I'm not decided because the difference will be no very big, on the other hand the Collapsible is a nice toy to carry allways the camera, and finally, for me (I had an accident on my left hand many years ago) the Rigid is more usable because it is tabbed and as said I think it gives the same quality as the DR, could you give me your opinion on this aspect? What I can say in favour of the Rigid is that the pictures I've obtained with it with favorable light conditions for it (not back light) was uniques. I love my DR lens. That one will go with me and into my estate. Okay, so I still think a call to Don Goldberg will turn up the part for you. Or Sherry Krauter. Or buy a cheap one off the 'bay and sacrifice it. regards Vick -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+vick.ko=sympatico.ca@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+vick.ko=sympatico.ca@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Leonard Taupier Sent: Friday, November 02, 2007 11:05 PM To: Leica Users Group Subject: Re: [Leica] WTB: DR or Rigid Summicron mount Hi Vick, I only have the bayonet collapsible Summicron and find it much softer wide open then the DR and Rigid versions. I would expect the LTM version to be about the same. I keep wondering if I have a bad one though since my Summitar is much better. The DR has the highest resolution of any 50mm lens that I own, better then the current version. However the contrast is lower then the current versions which look sharper. To me that's what gives the DR's that special look. The collapsible is lower contrast yet. I use all of my LTM lenses on my M bodies including the M8. Don't get rid of yours. You can't get the same look from another lens using PS.
