Perhaps when you return the loaner, you should show Schmidt the photo in question and ask them to query Leica about it. If you ever hear something back, I and I'm sure the list would be interested. As to those who pointed out that some of us are making a mountain out of a molehill: point taken, but the defect is there and is visible and this sort of thing is most un-Leica-like and certainly would not be tolerable in professional or PJ work, nor by anyone else who expects competent performance from a camera. Besides, it's been a neat intellectual exercise. Congratulations on the happy outcome, on your admirable forbearance in time of severe mental duress, and on the money you'll save not buying antacids. --howard On Oct 1, 2007, at 9:20 AM, Howard Cummer wrote: > Hi Luggers, > I went into Mui Wo this evening with my two M8's, the Schmidt > loaner which produced the strange reflection of the "Welcome to the > Ferry Pier" sign and my just-today-arrived replacement. > I used my 50mm Summilux Asph on both cameras, one after the other, > and discovered that the reflection could be produced in the Schmidt > loaner but not in the replacement.
