I was using the 21 SA and didn't keep track of changing light. Blown highlights stay blown even with the max adjustment in LR. So, I would much rather go a little under rather than go over too much. Going right on the histogram will work but you have to check that the over doesn't reach the top which for me would be studio work where I would not be using an M. YMMV.
