Some are expats staying on for the standard 3-5 year stint, others have made it their permanent home. Contrary to popular belief in the US, the French are not anti-American. Most dislike GWB, but then again, so do many Americans. And most French disliked Chirac too, at least during his last term in office. My French cousin, who is a movie buff, has a greater appreciation of American culture, including Clint Eastwood westerns, than anyone else I know.
