Two things are clear though. It is the person who choses to kill, not the gun. A gun makes -anybody- able to kill easily and remotely. Not many people can kill in a knife fight, and the risk of losing or being apprehended quickly is greater. Still fewer can kill with their bare hands. It still means that the person is the killer, but how many could one of the disaffected students on a campus kill if they could only get a knife? None, I suspect, they would be too scared to even try it on without a gun. A gun gives courage and easy lethal power to any nutcase, however cowardly.
