Wide open not very sharp but pretty good down two stops. Used creatively this can be pretty wonderful. As a carry lens when the light goes down not so good. The later Summicrons behaved much like a gen IV 50 Summicron; not tack sharp wide open but certainly very good images and down even one stop really good. Bokeh on either is of the old creamy style for the older design. On the new design it is more Sonnar like in that at certain distances and certain apertures strange shapes appear in the background occasionally but not often. My suggestion would be to look for the new 90 2.8 which is for all practical purposes as good as the 90AA but one stop slower. Not especially loved right now prices are in the high $700 range possibly into $900 for one very clean.
