[Leica] Leica USA M8 Warranty? Passport?

Hi Don,

My local dealer sells Leica USA supplied M8's and the salesman there told me 
one year warranty, no Passport. I prefer to buy new camera bodies locally if 
I think I may need Leica's Warranty but just a one year on a $5K digital 
camera leaves me concerned.
