A very representative rendering! they are one of the few birds native to the northwest that I can recall who have red irises. You should consider this one for your book; many folks out there (including me) may never get this close to a Towhee! Many thanks. Yes we do, now called Spotted Towhee to distinguish this bird from the eastern form, now considered separate species. I agree, they are VERY elusive and beautiful.
