I'm exploring right now. Ideally around the price range of the 1280.
I'd give up print size (8x12 prints might be OK) to gain quality. Push
comes to shove, I'd go more expensive.
As a point of interest the Epson Stylus R1800 - Refurb is available from
Epson for $299

You didn't give a price range which clearly is going to affect our
recommendations.
Are you looking at something in the range as the original 1280?
Otherwise you can get into some real money real fast so let us know
how much you're willing to part with.
