I agree with you that the colour is reproduced differently by non-ICC aware applications such as browsers. I know that was your original issue. That is, when compared to viewing in ICC compliant programs such as LR and PS. This is definitely a common findings (see adobe forum) In my experimenting, I found a LCD shift with viewing angle on a different monitor. This just added a wrinkle to the experiment process.
