The camera is manual focus and until recently manual exposure, anybody who can remember to remove the lens cap, focus and get correct exposure can surely set the lens in a menu, particularly if they own a little used older lens which they do not wish to pay for coding. Hopefully Leica will come to their senses and offer this, perhaps as an additional choice as in automatic, off or manual select. It is one thing I really would like on the Leica. Along with the firmware comes a document explaining that the WATE defaults to 18mm filter correction as filtered, there is a new menu selection for 16 and 21 which has to be selected whenever focal length is changed for the colour compensation software to use the correct values. The normal tri-elmar has the mechanical linkage of course.
