It's a good environmental portrait. Cheers Hoppy -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Howard Ritter Sent: Tuesday, 3 April 2007 14:02 To: Leica Users Group Subject: [Leica] First images with M8 Greetings all-- I finally decided that taking the plunge was inevitable, and the M8 arrived from B&H last week. I got it with the 24/2.8 Elmarit ASPH because It's equivalent to a 32mm lens in 35mm film usage, and my personal tastes run to wide-angle. (The default out-and-about lens on my R9 is the wonderful and awesome 19-35.) Besides, the 28/2/8 Elmarit wasn't available, and now I have a new focal length for the M3, though composition will have to be by guess and by golly there. This is a lovely picture-taking machine, instant gratification/ chimping and no film costs and no scanning and all that. The photographic quality is wonderful, noticeably better than with my D200 in my first impression, though this awaits a rigorous side-by- side test. I have uploaded a few images to Leica Users' Gallery. These are first images and are not intended to be exemplars of great photography (or even my best), only offered as examples of the technical accomplishments of the M8 for those interested. All exposures were at 160 ISO equiv. Comments welcome anyway! http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/hlritter/ --howard _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
