Initially a ducted spinner was used but it proved to add little benefit and was abandoned. FWIW, in my view easily the most handsome fighter designs of the period. If the idea is to provide cooling to the cylinder heads and barrel fins, then the large spinner may work just fine, providing smooth flow to the outer portion of the cowl, where it is diffused to provide cooling.
