I did not find the Nokton to lack sharpness wide open or the be flare prone. I did find the boke ugly which, in a fast lens used wide open often, is unforgivable. Often most of the frame is OOF so one does not want it to be distracting. I ended up with a 50 f1.4 Leica used in good condition which gives MUCH better results in practice.
