I think that when you have an M8 on your hands it is very probable you become enthousiastic shooting and shooting, the only point I'm surprised is when I enlarge at full size these pictures I see a lot of grain, well noise, even on your pictures at relatively low speed (ISO640), is this normal?. I'm sorry for my comment, I'm educated on a maybe too much classical...and ancient education, when I was a young man we shot usually at 18DIN (50ASA), when the 21DIN (100ASA) becomes more popular I still remember my father saying "this is 21 DIN"..., and 400 ASA (27DIN) was something extraordinary, I suppose that many old HCB and others was shoot with speeds between 50ASA and 100ASA, maybe with a digital camera - I have no experience - is too easy work at great speeds, maybe because we haven't any more the use to see the pictures enlarged on a darkroom at 24 x 30 cm or so...and we only see them on our monitors... I would appreciate your opinion, if one day I go to an M8, this aspect would be a certain handicap for me. Could be the security at the Wynn running me off. Anyway, let's start with the beginning of the trip in the airport. I found this kind soul sleeping through several flights coming and going out of this gate. It is a really long short story about why I spent so much time at this gate: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/DoryG/On-the-road/PAW+2007/PAW+Week+10/PAW+ week10a.jpg.html This next one was from Zabrowski Point in Death Valley with really bad light. You do what you can. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/DoryG/On-the-road/PAW+2007/PAW+Week+10/PAW+ week10b.jpg.html Actually among the sand in Death Valley. If you ever go, make it to the sand at daybreak as the peoples tracks will really mess up your shots or you will have to walk a long way over loose sand to find a clean sandbox: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/DoryG/On-the-road/PAW+2007/PAW+Week+10/PAW+ week10c.jpg.html This is the first decent light I had all day in Death Valley: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/DoryG/On-the-road/PAW+2007/PAW+Week+10/PAW+ week10d.jpg.html What can I say, I like abstract designs. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/DoryG/On-the-road/PAW+2007/PAW+Week+10/PAW+ week10e.jpg.html This gent was overly optimistic. Chatting up a model when her shift doesn't end for five more hours. Trust me, her feet will hurt more than any desire for dinner or a drink. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/DoryG/On-the-road/PAW+2007/PAW+Week+10/PAW+ week10f.jpg.html This last one is a demonstration of why you should always have a camera. Medium escalator, notice a lot of commotion, look down, think it is an impersonator, realize it isn't, turn the camera on, jam a focus and click. http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/DoryG/On-the-road/PAW+2007/PAW+Week+10/PAW+ week10g.jpg.html Enjoy the evidence of spring if you are Northern, and glory in the end of summer and the first twinges of fall in the South. The M8 is just the bomb, 700+ frames in a week when most of the time was training or seeing the 700+ next big thing. IR is a breeze. If the price is doable, get in line and get one. I've been on this list quite a while now and this is the first time I have been so enthusiastic about hard goods. I am sorry about the length of the PAW but it is such a blast. -- Don don.dory@gmail.com _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
