My mother and grandmother were traveling together (my mother is a musician). Mom was in Santa Fe for a few days before they moved on to the next city. They pulled out their glove box map while looking around the city and saw that only about 50 miles away was... LAS VEGAS. We're a rather boring sort of family and neither had ever been to Vegas, so they decided to go. After driving and pulling into this tiny mountain village with not much more than a gas station, they asked how much further to Las Vegas. The gas station owner informed them that they were there. Excited, they drove on a bit, thinking that they were on the outskirts. Not finding anything but pine trees on the other side of the village, they returned to the gas station. You see, they were in Las Vegas, NEW MEXICO - not Nevada.
