George,
Thank you for commenting.  The lines are an inherent lens aberration of my
gen 1 EOS  100 Macro when used wide open.  Used with some knowledge of the
artifacts it can be quite wonderful.  Stopped down past F4 it is a very
sharp lens.  I don't know if all of them do this or if it is a result of
some impact repair techniques but I will always have a camera that will
mount this lens.
