On page 64 of the 1955 edition of The Leica Manual by Morgan & Lester, they illustrate their discussion of the IR index with a closeup photo of a lens focusing scale, but don't identify the lens. I suspect it is the Summicron from its appearance. It also shows the IR index mark coinciding with the 2.0 mark on the DOF scale. Good luck with your IR photos./ Jim Nichols Tullahoma, TN USA ----- Original Message ----- From: "R S" <darkbulb@gmail.com> To: "Leica Users Group" <lug@leica-users.org> Sent: Saturday, January 20, 2007 11:24 PM Subject: [Leica] IR with Leica > Does anyone know what the focusing compensation is when shooting IR film > using a Summicron 50/2? > Somewhere I think I remember it's 'focus forward 1/4% of the lens focal > length' - but I may be way off on that. > > I tried to see if my 1963 Summicron 50/2 has IR focus adjustment > indicators > on it but couldn't find anything that would make sens. > > Also if anyone have recommendation on film and filters to use that would > be > greatly appreciated as this will be the first time I attempt this. > > /Rich > > _______________________________________________ > Leica Users Group. > See http://leica-users.org/mailman/listinfo/lug for more information >
