I can see that it might have created an instant collectible. I was of course, being irreverent. Still my vision of the mutated SL2 was far more interesting than your prosaic explanation ;-) Cheers Hoppy -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Marc James Small Sent: Saturday, 9 December 2006 15:39 To: Leica Users Group Subject: RE: [Leica] Items FS 8 DEC 2006 At 11:44 PM 12/8/2006, G Hopkinson wrote: >Marc, each week or so I browse your FS, like an old fashioned camera shop. >What on earth is a "suppressed Nipple SL2" ? >The puzzled mind wants to know. Well, it's ACTUALLY a "suppressed nipple SL2 brochure". The SL2 brochure released in Europe included a picture of a female pianist who was, well, indiscreet in her pose, and her nipple could be seen. The Ernst Leitz New York guys went ballistic when they saw this and it was immediately withdrawn. Most of the English-language brochures for the US market were destroyed but a friend managed to save a couple, and that's what I've got. I understand that the English-language UK and Commonwealth brochures included the Braless Musician, so you probably have seen the publication in question. But it is rare in the US printing.
