The camera was great, but the M7 should have come out sooner. This was in part because they were not challenged. The M8 is a different story. I think Leica for a small company have done OK with this one. They are in the market at a time where digitial is now dominant. They could not have made a rangefinder to this level of excellence even 2 to 4 years ago, so it is probably not tooooo late and they still have a relative monopoly with wonderful lens technology: I thought Zeiss would beat them to the digital camera, so they were faster than I expected and the DMR is not too shabby either: seems dust cleaning is one real winner for a digital "back".
