Have you given any consideration to perhaps expanding the star system for the judges or expanding the mechanism for comment into threads to stimulate interest/discussion? I don't know if either idea is feasible or practical. Cheers Hoppy -----Original Message----- From: lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org [mailto:lug-bounces+hoppyman=bigpond.net.au@leica-users.org] On Behalf Of Brian Reid Sent: Saturday, 4 November 2006 00:46 To: LUG@leica-users.org Subject: [Leica] themes There are five really excellent pictures entered already in this month's contest. Last month we had an awful situation in which someone felt compelled to remove a high-quality entry from the contest because he felt it was not in keeping with the theme. I don't want that to happen. I think that from now on the theme has to be declared the instant that the contest is open. So here's what I'm going to do: this month's contest has no theme, and from now on each month's contest, starting with the December 2006, will have a stated theme from the moment it opens. Sometimes the themes will be very broad, such as "red". Sometimes they will be very abstract. It will always be OK to submit a picture that does not have anything to do with the theme, but this month I don't want to retroactively declare a theme. _______________________________________________ Leica Users Group.
